of the ancient shrouded wisdom

to our buried past
Thoughts are enshrined by the visions
that may never see the light of day

in search of life only seen in dreams

The year is 1825
The northern Maine is trembling
Under heavy boots of lumberman
With a grim look in their eyes
Axes raise high
And axes fall hard back down

Harsh are these northern lands
For anyone who wasn‘t born here
And even those who are scarred
With wounds that never heal
But in the dead of night
When the air is so cold
And you cannot hear
A single bird‘s song
Stranger travels
Through these barren lands
Wooden carriage holds
Everything he owns…
And that most dear to him -
His young wife and baby boy
“Baby‘s freezing - And so am I”
Discouraged she pleads
“Hurry up the horses, husband of mine
So we can lay our heads
Rest our weary minds
Light the fire - keep us warm
Before the dusk brings the Devil‘s hour
And these woods the surrounding darkness
Is swarmed with creatures of the night”
And so they ride
They ride so fast
Dear Alger and his wife
With newborn baby in her arms
the forest just stood there
And watched them go
There are many.
So many eyes in the woods
Eyes of trees, eyes of grass
Eyes of moss x4
And so the new inhabitants
On this fateful night
Arrived to this cursed land
Knowing not what lies ahead
Not their worst nightmares
Drawn from imagination
Could help prepare them
for what the future holds

Lured

Exhausted and weary from the pilgrimage
Alger's mind is racing into the deepest sleep
steadfast watching over her beloved ones
Mila hears the voices of the trees - speaking to her
"Follow the path and you'll see
visions projected from the crag

that what we have can help you an your family"
Mila leaves the fire mesmerized & distraught
voices lead her far away into the night
deeper and down the rooted path, she did step
in the forest temple Mila knows she's not alone

Taste the nectar from the pines
feel the knowledge descend on your body
Lay down here upon the forest floor
close your eyes and let your thoughts cascade
into the territory of stars
become overtaken by the trees
Alger is waking, he knows something's wrong
Guided by the laughter and the cries in the night
with his steady axe in hand, he charges out
fleet of foot racing but no direction
Unforeseen Alger finds himself bereft of his family

destined to become forest lore
helpless you will never find your way
lost to your forever cherished ones
you've become overtaken by the trees
and through the darkness
left abandoned
by the fireside
lies little Emanuel

The Crag Witch

Stranded, in a clearing where there is no sign of where he entered
Alger climbs the trunk of the tallest tree to find the others.
As he grips the branches the sap begins to pour,
raining down, covering, saddening, everything, hardening.
You're becoming one with the forest, one with the trees,
and they'll never know that you've become one with the forest,
one with the trees, you'll never leave
Never
NEVER!!
Frozen, by the essence of trees that now surround,
Alger sees, but cannot move,
his body is covered - and now consumed by bark
Mila, wakens in the grass staring at the crag,
she hears a cry and suddenly thinks of her Emmanuel
why did she leave her boy?
Cries in the birth of the twilight, hopelessly lost, mentally torn in two
Echoing the cries out in the twilight but Mila is so drawn
the Crag Witch beckons her...
Mila - Mila
Climbing down the winding roots, jagged rocks and ancient dirt
Mila descends the walls
Every step into the dark takes her energy away
it's so hard to breathe
Still the calling in the night has her hypnotized
lucidity is crushed
now entrenched in her lair Mila steps onto the ground
swiftly trudging through the moor
Murky swale of dreaded fear pulls Mila further down
down into the pitch
Grasping for the vines that once furtively guided her
are no longer in sight
Mila's might and fortitude have quickly been eaten
She lets out one last scream
Staring from above the hag steals her last breath
as the blackness swallows her alive
You've become one with the forest, one with the trees,
you'll never leave
You've become one with the forest, one with the trees,
you'll never see
Alger [or] Emmanuel again.

Time has past abandoned years
in this kingdom
shrouded by the wooded walls
of forest thick
to this day a ruler mourns
his lost family
to get them back he never will
sadness awaits
all
who
venture
through
This lost provenance - this kingdom - of mourning
in the silence, a boy keeps watch by night.
